... Laksa....

What is Laksa..???? How does it looks..??? Heeehheee..no need to think just read this to know more about it......
Above picture show us how laksa looks like...
Laksa is almost everywhere available. Basically there are two types of laksa: curry laksa (curry mee) and assam laksa. The curry laksa is served in a coconut curry soup while assam laksa refers to noodles served in a sour fish soup. The noodles used are thick though thin noodles (bee hoon) are used too.

Spicy or not? Laksa for sure is one of the more spicy dishes you will find in Malaysia. In general of all Malaysian food, I found the Malay laksa spicier then the Chinese laksa. The assam laksa, with it's sour fish has a distinct different taste then anything else with the exception maybe of the Tom Yam soups you find in Malaysia and Thailand. Curry Mee is usually less spicy though you may have to ask for no sambal if you don't like it too spicy. But for those who likes spicy food, i think they should try this food... Hot, spicy and delicious.. All in one... A right combination of food...
Here a the link you can visit to learn how to cook laksa.

...Sarawak's Lapis Cake....

Whenever I look at a photo of Kueh Lapis, I always want to make it. Then I look at the ingredients and they scare me off - which I guess is good because I would most certainly eat up the whole cake by myself.... It is beautiful as it taste is good...Kek Lapis Sarawak is a layered cake, traditionally served in Sarawak on special occasions. In the Malay language, they are known as Kek Lapis Sarawak, Kek Lapis Moden Sarawak, Kek Sarawak or Kek Lapis. They are often baked for religious or cultural celebrations...

Modern Sarawakian layered cakes were introduced to the people of Sarawak..Sarawakian modern layered cakes can be divided into two categories: cakes with ordinary layers and cakes with patterns, motifs, or shapes. All must have at least two colors. The cake can be baked in an oven or microwave. The batter uses butter or vegetable oil, milk and eggs, and requires a strong arm or electric mixer to be properly prepared. The baked cake has a high, firm texture and the layers are fastened together with jam or a similarly sticky sweet substance. More detailed cakes often require special moulds to maintain. the perfect layer thickness.  To learn more about this food, everybody can refer to this link : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kek_Lapis_Sarawak

....Ambuyat....

AMBUYAT... Strange name right..???? But believe it or not, it is an unique food from Sabah..It's very famous among bisaya people of klias peninsular.Bisaya is one of races that live in Sabah...
Now let me explain more about ambuyat.....
Ambuyat, is a gluey "porridge" with sago starch. It's using a pair of chopsticks cut from the rib of the sago palm to twirl it up into a sticky mass for dunking in a tasty sauce. Take a look on the picture on the right side... Its look sticky right..??? But the taste isn't as stick as its look..
Eventhought it is Bisaya tradisional food, but other races also can enjoy this food...
For example,The murut or " hill people " living in Sabah 's interior, make a subtance similar to Ambuyat, grating and washing the starch out of topioca roots rather than the sago palm. Both boiled tapioca and sago starch are enjoyed on occasion by various kadazan dusun peoples , although rice - particularly hill rice grown on the slopes of the crocker range - remains the number one favourite... As it is delicious, Ambuyat also famous at Sarawak especially among the melanau people . It is because they are like sago very much too.The Ambuyat is suitable as a snack, breakfast, tea-time or even supper. This special food, can be find at  "Tamu" markets or street markets in Sabah... Thats all for today...
